This workshop will be run by Liz Dickson of Yabber Myakka
This will be a practical
workshop which will introduce you to coaching skills which are vital
for scientific managers wanting to get the best out of their teams. The
skills of coaching will help you to build your teams skills, progress
and solve problems, motivate your staff, increasing their
responsibility and allowing you to delegate more. The session will
introduce you to the principles, tools and models to help you
effectively coach your team and give you an opportunity to practice
some of the skills involved in effectively coaching yourself and your
team.
Usually coaching courses focus on a model and set of questions – which will be covered - however, we will look specifically at some of the areas of coaching that scientific and technical managers typically find more challenging when coaching and we will spend some time helping delegates understand these particular challenges. So that you can understand and overcome the demands of them as coaches. We will include focusing on some specific areas of listening and questioning which may not be as well developed and which may be undervalued or discounted as unimportant.
