Professor Eleanor Riley (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK) will be speaking at our 'Identifying T Cell Subset Phenotype and Function in Parasite Infections' meeting on March 27th 2009. Her talk is entitled ‘Regulatory T cell populations in human and murine malaria’. There is still time to book a place at our ‘Nanotoxicology: Health & Environmental Impacts’ meeting on February 27th 2009. Professor Wolfgang G. Kreyling (Helmholtz Zentrum München Research Center for Health & Environment; Institute of Inhalation Biology, Focus Network Nanoparticles and Health, Germany) will be discussing the health implications of nanoparticles. PrimerDesign is seeking a German speaking individual with a molecular biology background to help build the reputation of PrimerDesign in Germany. This exciting and varied role will include setting up, coordinating and presenting seminars in German academic institutions, translation and preparation of materials and literature in to German, technical support of research projects in Germany via telephone, email and training visits. The position will based at our UK office/laboratory premises but will involve regular travel to Germany. more »

Novacta Therapeutics, a UK-based anti-infectives company, today announced that the UK's Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) will evaluate its proprietary lantibiotics as a broad spectrum antiviral treatment. Using its technology, Novacta intends to generate new compounds with improved activity against influenza and other viral targets. DSTL will conduct efficacy studies to measure the ability of the lantibiotics to treat or prevent viral infections. more »
